Don’t Bluff Early in a Tournament
When you’re playing tournament poker, a lot of players will make the mistake of bluffing way to early in the online poker game. It’s understandable to do this-you’re excited, you’ve been anticipating the poker online tournament all day and now you want to see some action, and then the cards don’t come your way. I know that it can be frustrating to start out folding, but coming out bluffing just isn’t worth it. Early on in the game, the blinds are just not worth trying to buy. You just aren’t getting enough of a payout for the risk that you’re taking. Buying up blinds is a good way to build your stack, but in the beginning of a tournament, when the blinds are small, you aren’t making much of an increase when you just get the blinds. If you’re on the button, and you know that you can buy the blinds for a minimal investment, then go ahead. If the blinds are very tight players, and you know that they’ll either fold or only call your bet, then grab those blinds. If you’re unsure about how the blinds will react to your raise, don’t take the risk. Wait until later in the game, when it’s worth it.
