“This was an absolute pleasure to run as the tennis participants were all about getting out on the courts and playing some high-pressure tennis” said Steve Chagnan, TLN CEO. The majority of the players who attended advanced their individual tournaments to earn the right to take part in the USA tourney.
The metro area leagues under the TLN network of city leagues serve to join local, dedicated tennis participants who want to play a lot of tennis. We make sure that tennis participants are united with equally skilled tennis partners. Matches are played predominantly on public courts. It has been a extremely successful format, Chagnan said. Since 2006, there have been more than 42,700 tennis matches played; 2009 saw a 51% increase.
TLN was inspired to create this USA tournament as the complete conclusion for all the players who have won championships in their individual programs, said Chagnan. The 32 tennis participants corresponded most major cities, including Miami, Boston, DC, Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Denver, Orange County, LA and Philadelphia. players were grouped in mini-divisions of 5 tennis participants, and played in a round-robin employing a 10 pro set format (First to win10 games). The top 2 players from each mini-division moved onto a single elimination tourney with other same skill-level mini-division qualifiers.
Registration begins in early January for the 2010 season for TLNs 33 web based tennis communities, which are committed to bringing together local tennis players of every skill level — from beginners to open players– who desire to play a lot of singles tennis matches and make new friends. We make sure that both men and women are connected with tennis partners of similar tennis ablilites, says Chagnan.
